June
7-14 and July 5-12 tours stay at the Hyatt Vineyard Inn The wine country hotels, specifically chosen for location, are within walking distance to 15 award winning restaurants, shopping, antique stores, movie theaters, night clubs, and the Wednesday Night Market. Each week the main downtown street is blocked off and filled with live music, food vendors, produce stands, and many local vendors’ booths. Both sides of the street are filled with restaurants, bars, and shops. This tour includes all ground transportation and luggage hauling, full motorcycle rental support, luxury hotels for 7 nights, breakfasts each day, first and last night dinners, Safari West excursion, a limo wine tour at the end, and bridge toll for the Golden Gate. Your tour starts on Saturday with a hotel shuttle picking you up at San Francisco Airport and taking you to a luxury airport hotel where a welcome dinner and trip overview awaits you. On Sunday morning a chase vehicle and trailer pick up your luggage at the hotel entrance and a shuttle van takes you to the motorcycle rental shop, where your pre-reserved Harley Davidson, Goldwing, or BMW motorcycle awaits. From there, we cruise along the San Francisco water front to the Golden Gate Bridge. Once across the bridge, we climb into the coastal mountains to the Pacific Coast Highway, then wind our way up to Bodega Bay for lunch. After lunch, we explore more coast line until we come to a local favorite twisty mountain pass that winds up to a saddle ridge with views of rolling Oak and Redwood tree covered hills, valleys, and high elevation vineyards, until we stop at the Lake Sonoma overlook. From there, we wind our way down into one of the most beautiful wine appellation valleys in the world! Then we work our way through the vineyards to our luxury hotel. On Monday morning we mount up by 8:15 am so that we have time to wind through some back roads on our way to a 9:00 am to noon tour of Safari West. Some walking is involved, so bring good shoes. After getting up close and personal with many wild animals for 3 hours, we have a buffet lunch. Then we hit the mountain roads that separate Sonoma Valley from the Napa Valley, with views of both. We wind our way down to the wine tourist town of St. Helena, where we stop and walk through the shops lining the main street. Once we mount up again, we cross from one side of the Napa Valley to the other and work our way down the Silverado Trail. Then back across the valley to Oakville and back across the mountains to Sonoma Valley. We ride through the back roads of rolling Oaks and through more vineyards again back to our hotel, were we can relax in the pool and spa. Monday through Thursday evenings are unplanned, allowing you the option to choose any one of 15 award winning restaurants, shopping malls, movie theaters, night clubs, seeing a show or concert at the local events center, or just relaxing around the hotel. On Tuesday morning we head out for an all day ride, out towards the
Valley of the Moon, over the hill to Calistoga, then over the base of
Mt St, Helena to Middletown. Then we ride up the hill through Cobb, and
over the mountain to Hopland for lunch. From there we head north to pick
up 253 to Boonville, where they still speak their own language. Then
back on 128 to Geyserville, across the Russian River bridge to wind our
way through two world famous appellations; Alexander Valley and Knights
Valley. We then touch the corner of Napa Valley again, through Calistoga,
and back to our hotel. We’ll be back in time for cocktail hour, relaxing
in the spa, and another free night to explore the downtown night life. Thursday is Redwoods day. We’ll start by riding along the Russian River to Armstrong Woods for a brief stroll through the thick scented forests. Then we’ll take a spirited ride through Gualala for lunch in Pt. Arena. Then up the coast to Albion, where we turn inland to a little traveled road through the hills to a town call Comptche and a stop at Montgomery Woods State Preserve, where the tallest tree in the world is hidden and unmarked. We can all take turns guessing which one it is. Then back through the Vineyards to our hotel to cocktails, the spa, and your last free evening of fun nightlife. Friday is limo wine tour day. The limo bus will pick up our entire group for a day of wine tasting and a picnic lunch. Friday night will be a VineyardRider.com hosted farewell/thank you dinner. After breakfast, Saturday will see us riding through the vineyards in the morning where we can hopefully watch the Hot Air Balloons soar over the grapes while we wind along the Russian River and back to the PCH. Down to Stinson Beach, across the Golden Gate Bridge, along the water front through San Francisco and back to the motorcycle rental shop, where the shuttle waits to take you back to the hotel or the airport, depending on your travel arrangements.
